‘The Ditch’ translation rights sold to USA & UK
After the worldwide success of The Dinner, Summerhouse with Swimming Pool and Dear Mr M., Kochs latest work The Ditch is gaining territory as well. Translation rights have already been sold to KiWi (Germany), Text (Australia), Siltala (Finland), Neri Pozza (Italy), Salamandra (Spain), Baltos Lankos (Lithuania), Art People (Denmark) and Editions Belfond (France). We are proud to announce that the English rights have now been sold to Picador (UK) and Hogarth (US), who will publish the British and American editions of the book.
KiWi’s publisher Kerstin Gleba was one of the first ones to have read the book, and was immediately enthusiastic: “Herman’s new book is full of surprises, it’s original and playful and very smart indeed. Again we have a narrator who is unreliable – it’s an ordeal to see how Robert obviously has a sadistic talent to undermine his happy marriage by plunging into suspicions and suspicions. And of course in the beginning you want to scold him for seeing ghosts but he manages to put his doubts into the readers’ mind. In short; it’s a special, fantastic book.”
The Ditch shows a seemingly stable man quickly becoming increasingly entangled in his own fears and suspicions. Or is everything not what it seems, and is Robert Walter actually seeing things clearly the very first time?
