Dear Mr. M nominated for a Dublin Literary Award 2018
On the 6th of November the longlist for the International DUBLIN literary Award was announced and Herman Koch’s Dear Mr M is one of the 6 Dutch novels that are nominated.
The International DUBLIN Literary Award is managed by Dublin City Council’s library service. The 150 books eligible for the 2018 award were nominated by libraries in 111 cities and 37 countries worldwide; 48 of which are titles in translation, spanning 18 languages.
Dear Mr M was nominated by the Rotterdam Library, whose librarians praised it as a ‘smooth reading novel’ that ‘shows the dangers of “framing”, with elements of a thriller and is a satire on the literary scene.’ The novel is translated into English by Sam Garrett and published in the UK by Picador. In 2010 the prize was won by another Dutch author, Gerbrand Bakker, for his novel The Twin, translated by David Colmer.
The shortlist will be published in April 2018 and the Lord Mayor of Dublin will announce the winner on 13th June.
